Why does the Bookstore have a book buy back program?
The Lander Bookstore uses the book buy back program as a way for students to get money for textbooks that they no longer need and to save the students money by putting quality used textbooks on our shelves at a discounted price. This allows us to stock a large used book selection and lower price alternative.

When is book buy back?
Book buy back is conducted at the end of each semester. During Fall and Spring semester the buy back is held during the 5-6 days of exams usually from 9am to 4:30pm. The exact dates and times for buy back will be posted the last week of classes in the bookstore, on the bookstore web site, and at various locations around campus.

What do I need to sell my books back?
All you will need is to bring your books (including any CDs or supplements which were originally included with them) and a picture ID (school ID card or drivers license).

How does the Bookstore determine which books to buy?
The titles that are carried in the bookstore are determined by the Lander University faculty. Books are chosen by faculty for use in each term and the orders are submitted to the bookstore so that we may obtain what is needed. We then use this textbook information, enrollment history, and current inventory to determine which books will be needed for the coming term and how many. If a particular book is being used in the upcoming term we buy back the amount which will be needed and sell them to students at a discounted price. If a book is not being used again we don't purchase any for our store but they may still be purchased by the textbook wholesaler.

How much will I get for my books?
If your book is in resalable condition and has been adopted for a course in the coming term we will pay you 50% of the shelf price unless the bookstore is already overstocked with that title. In that event there may be a wholesale value on your book which can be 50% or less of the retail price. Wholesalers then supply these books to other schools across the country. In either event we will tell you what we can give you for the book and you can decide to sell it or keep it.
