| Victory for College Students, Campus Stores
College students and their campus stores are both celebrating the passage of the financial reform bill in the U.S. Senate on July 15. The legislation provides students with protection in dealing with consumer loans while setting limits on the interchange fees credit card companies charge retailers. College bookstores spend about $100 million each year on the fees, making them the second-highest cost for the stores behind labor. President Obama is expected to soon sign the compromise legislation, which passed in the House of Representatives before the July 4 holiday.
